Carbon Pathfinder

Carbon Pathfinder helps facility managers track and reduce building carbon emissions. It began as a 2021 hackathon winner, and JLL Technologies invested in making it a real product given the market need for environmentally friendly facility management. The hackathon version was put together by developers, and I joined in the early phase to improve its UX and UI and lead the design system implementation.

Decisions

Every page on the JLL Design System. I revisited all pages and aligned them with the JLL Design System, rebuilding screens from its components and bringing in elements of the new JLLT homepage marketing message, such as background imagery in the new JLL brand.

Dark mode to put the data first. I added dark mode to accentuate the infographic, the primary content of the page. The design system did not include dark mode at the time, so this became a contribution back to it.

Outcome

Carbon Pathfinder was named to Fast Company's Next Big Things in Tech (2023). I was UX/UI Designer on the product in its early phase in 2021 and led its design system implementation.
