Supporting about 124K financial professionals with 1.5M reports/month worldwide today, Morningstar Advisor Workstation (AWS) has been serving its community for more than 20 years. Its revenue of $140M proves the continuing efforts to empower investors indirectly. However, it barely updates its design experience and carries many UX problems for a long time. Breaking out the ad hoc design patch pattern, I am grateful to lead the legacy tool's complete design transformation to a new version for the modern user experience.

Design Process
Team collaboration with seamless design processes is critical in providing a successful product solution to users. Leading the design teams to create an effective partnership with developers and business groups, I introduced and advocated this process that supports two primary goals:
Design Ownership
Designers define the epic/story-level tickets with business owners. We expect strong ownership of the design problems from a design role by having a design involvement early.
Research
After a team of designers, business owners, and developers work together and result in a good design solution. It's time to test. Testing the team solution on end-users will add more substantial confidence to the solution.
